The Miramichi Action for Nutritional Guidance Opportunities program (MANGO) is establishing a list of healthy eating and active living services in the Miramichi Region.

The list will be compiled into a directory available in Miramichi communities and on the Miramichi Regional Health Authority's website.

"Based on the results of the needs assessment completed by MANGO's Community Nutrition Advisory Committees, the community indicated they understand the importance of healthy eating and active living but are not familiar with available resources," says Jacqueline Forrest, MANGO Co-ordinator. "To assist us in developing this list, we are asking the public to provide us with any services or programs that are currently available in the Miramichi region that promote healthy eating and/or active lifestyles."

Examples include recreation services such as fitness centres, walking clubs, workplace wellness programs, weight management programs, etc.

Send information to Jacqueline Forrest. Telephone 623-3553, fax 623-3502, or e-mail jforrest@health.nb.ca

MANGO is a population-based wellness program promoting healthy eating and active living. It has established nine community advisory committees in Baie Ste. Anne, Blackville, Néguac/Alnwick region, Rogersville, city of Miramichi, Metepenagiag (Red Bank) First Nation, Esgenoopitig (Burnt Church), and Eel Ground First Nation.
