Little Moments. Big Magic. Miramichi has
been chosen as one of 10 cities in Canada to host a “Mentoring Day”
with Dr. Susan Weinberger and Big Brothers-Big Sisters.
Dr. Weinberger
has been recognized for her expertise in establishing, maintaining, and evaluating school and community-based mentoring programs and school-to-work initiatives. Her work has been published widely and the program she designed
has been replicated in more than 40 of the United States, Bermuda and Canada. Dr.
Susan Weinberger is an international consultant on mentoring.
Little Moments. Big Magic. Mentoring Day is guaranteed
to motivate, inspire and engage volunteers. The planning committee for this one-day event is Bob Honour, Maureen LeBlanc, Sheree Allison and Joan
Sharpe. To maximize her visit,
a breakfast is planned, followed by a seminar mid-morning and a wrap-up luncheon at Youth Village.
Dr.
Weinberger an award-winning author, designed and developed the first one-on-one school-based mentoring program. Locally, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been recruiting and matching in the school-based mentoring
program and have set stretch goals for new volunteers to join this Fall.
This one-day event, on Thursday October 2nd, will be a catalyst
for raising the bar on awareness of the impact of mentoring in a community.
