Local Poetry
To Mom & Dad
It's been eleven long years since I've
Come to this place.
Too much time
passed since I have
Felt your warm embrace.
I miss you very much,
But new friends I have found.
Some people, places
and times
I'd like to bring around.
So, I ask you with love to
Take me back home.
In our minds bring me back
to the
Places I'd roam.
To the hills, trees and rivers and
Wide open sea.
To the joy and the laughter
and
The love to ever be.
To all of our neighbours on Good O'l
St. Thomas St.
To the new in-laws
and family
I've yet to meet.
Take me back home Mom to when
I'd sit on your knee.
When you'd talk about
love
How you hoped things would be.
To Gram's house on Saturday
Down on the hill.
To Newcastgle, Nelson and
even
Loggieville.
Take me to Bartibog, to your
New fishing boat.
To the land and the times
I was too busy to take note.
To the love and the kindness when
You would relieve my fears.
Yes, take
me back Dad
To my wonder years.
When we come back I'll take you
Through my recent life.
Of raising five
children
And being a wife.
From the flus and the colds
The nights of no rest.
I have to admit now,
Mom knows best.
I'll take you through the birth
Of our four little boys.
Through the growing
and sharing
And all the great joys.
To the "I didn't do it" to
"So what if I did"
I remember those sayings
From when I was a kid.
"What goes around comes around"
Is a saying thats true.
Thats why I love
my children
As much as I do.
